Newsless.

Well, here we are, three months gone from our last post and with no news. At all. Or, at least, none regarding the baby we don't have yet. Though lots of other things have been going on....Lisa has quit her job (back in July) and though she is now ready for another job, we are both very happy she left the seething pit of hell where she worked before. I am still at my job, and finally getting the chance to benefit from the awesome domestic partner benefits we got a few years ago by adding Lisa to my insurance.

We were ready to try baby creation again this month, but the magical day(s) would have fallen when Lisa was in New Hampshire helping her sister, who just gave birth to her second daughter. Soooo....we wait and plan to try again at the end of September/first of October. We just need to have a freakin' kid and get it over with, really.

Oh, and I put a shed together this weekend, so I pretty much rock.

Brownback, ye shall now be known as "silverback."

Sweet mother of mercy, please tell me the American people cannot possibly be stupid enough to elect another Republican. How can you not believe you are descended from apes? Oh, I know...because you ARE STILL AN APE!

Homewrecker.

Yes, that's me. A homewrecker. I've told and told Prince William that it wouldn't work out, what with him being the blue-blooded 25-year-old heir to the British throne, and I'm a 36-year-old American midwestern lesbian. But he wouldn't take no for an answer, and now he's gone and dumped that nice girl he was seeing. Oh, did I lead him on? Now I know how Wallis Simpson felt.

Where are they now?

Things we are up to lately, in no particular order:
  • Having inventory at work (Lisa today, Tricia next Saturday)
  • Serving on jury duty (Tricia)
  • Building a privacy fence in our back yard (both)
  • Seeing a new reproductive endocrinologist for some aggressive fertility fun (both of us, but mostly Lisa, to be honest)
  • Buying new glasses, being thankful for insurance, enduring the disapproving stares of salespersons at Lenscrafters because we don't wish to pay for non-glare, UV 8 million, superduper ultra-unbelievably-light bionic lenses, thanking our lucky stars we have at least some vision insurance, and enjoying our new specs (Tricia)
  • Nervously joining a soccer league, afraid as we are out of shape, haven't played in two years and have never played co-ed (Tricia)
I think that's it, mostly. Aren't we exciting? Don't answer that.

Things that keep me awake at night.

I'd always thought the noun form of 'admonish' is 'admonition.' But lately, and I've been seeing it everywhere, like haunting, I see the word 'admonishment.' They both appear to be noun forms of the verb, but which is more correct? Admonishment sounds a lot like astonishment to me, and frankly almost a little made up, though clearly it is legit.

I think I will stick with 'admonition,' but I'm willing to be persuaded by anyone from the other camp with a compelling argument.

P.S. I Googled this little conundrum and found nothing--NOTHING!--relevant to my query as to which is more common, more preferable, etc. How often is it that Google is no help at all? Not very.

And, on to another try....

As you might have detected from the long lag since my last post, we do not yet have any good news to report. The stick was peed upon, and delivered its inevitable one-line-not-two-no-matter-how-hard-we-squinted. Then we waited. And waited. And took another test, as Lisa is a very punctual person in every way. But alas, no on the stick and then no for real.

March was a bust as Lisa was out of town for a meeting at the appropriate time, so we shall begin planning for April, and hoping that any baby we might have will share our wicked sense of humor and allow itself to be conceived so as to arrive just after New Year's, thereby depriving us of a tax deduction. Turning pessimism into optimism here at twomommies....it's just how we roll.

Meanwhile, since we weren't impregnating, I painted the dining room. Orange.

Yes. Orange.

And I like it....

Now, if we could just get some damn books...
